Upon completion, participants earn a Foundations of Managing Inventory Badge from Tadaca Educational Solutions—a stackable, industry-aligned micro-credential that supports pathways into apprenticeship programs and early-career roles in logistics, warehousing, and operations. Inventory management is a critical function for controlling assets and ensuring product flow across the supply chain. Individuals working in supply chain roles need a solid understanding of the purpose, costs, and benefits of inventory to contribute effectively to organizational performance. This course introduces learners to the fundamentals of inventory as a key function within end-to-end supply chain processes. Participants explore how inventory is acquired from suppliers through procurement, how it moves through the system as raw materials, work in process (WIP), and finished goods, and how it supports manufacturing and distribution activities. Key components of this badge include: The role and importance of inventory in the supply chain Types of inventory, including raw materials, WIP, and finished products Techniques for managing and controlling inventory levels to balance cost and service The relationship between forecasting and inventory management, including how demand planning influences stock decisions The financial impacts of inventory investments, such as carrying costs, stockouts, and obsolescence Through this course, participants develop foundational knowledge and practical language needed to function effectively in inventory-related roles and to progress along a supply chain career pathway.
